It's everyone's worst nightmare - your dream holiday has unfortunately come to an end and when you prepare to go to the airport, you realise to your horror that you've lost your passport. That happens more often than you might think, according to the most recent figures from the British government. Between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016, Spain was the top country for UK citizens losing their passport with consular assistance sought in 5,158 cases. The United States came second with 2,088 while France was in third place with 1,591.
