In addition for being responsible for one in 10 deaths among working age adults, excessive drinking also costs the country more than $220 billion each year
When it comes to alcohol-attributable deaths by state, New Mexico leads the way by a considerable distance with 51.2 deaths per 100,000 residents. Alaska and Montana come second and third with 41.1 and 37.7 deaths per 100,000 residents respectively.
