The latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, Jelly Bean (4.1 – 4.2), had been installed on a little over 10 percent of all Android devices by the end of December 2012, making Jelly Bean’s update speed significantly swifter than that of its predecessor Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.3 - 4.0.4). The latter was installed on 7.1 percent of devices running a Google operating system six months after release.
Jelly Bean is currently installed on 29 percent of devices using Google's mobile OS. The enduring favorite Gingerbread fell short of the 50 percent mark in December. However, it is still proving hard to top with the majority of Android devices still running on a version of the Gingerbread operating system (2.3.3 - 2.3.7).
