Equal Pay Day

The UK's gender pay gap

Saturday marked 2018's Equal Pay Day in the UK. According to the Fawcett Society, this is the day this year that, when taking the gender pay gap into consideration, women effectively stop getting paid. "“We calculate Equal Pay Day by multiplying the size of the gender pay gap by the number of days in a year, giving the pay gap as a number of days (52 for 2018). We then count this back from the end of the year to get to 10 November.” While there is still significant progress needed, our chart pulls together Office for National Statistics data to show that things most certainly are moving in the right direction.
