Investments Drive Down Amazon's Profits

Amazon disappointed investors with its third quarter results on Thursday. The e-commerce giant's profits fell to $2.1 billion from $2.6 billion in the previous quarter. It is also the first time that Amazon's profits have declined year-on-year in the past two years, with the company losing approximately $750 million compared to the third quarter of 2018. This drop in profits is mainly due to the massive investments made to set up the 24-hour delivery service in its Prime offer.
