Cyber Attacks

Cyber Attacks Often Target Microsoft Office

Cyber attacks on U.S. businesses could see a significant increase from Iranian hackers, according to CNBC, as tensions between the two countries continue to rise. Cyber attacks are already a top concern for business leaders, and after the killing of Iranian general Qassem Suleimani from a U.S. drone strike, cybersecurity officials fear a surge of retaliatory international attacks.

According to an analysis conducted by the Kaspersky Lab in the third quarter of 2019, Microsoft Office is by far the leading vulnerability worldwide for hackers to exploit. Over 70% of the total complaints received by Kaspersky were related to applications within Microsoft Office, with browsers trailing behind in a distant second.

Other applications, including Android, Java, and those involving PDFs, continue to be targets of cyber attacks like phishing campaigns.
