Do sustainable accommodations matter to travelers?

Booking.com's annual survey of global travelers has been tracking tourists’ intent to stay at sustainable accommodations since 2016. In the 2022 study, 78 percent of respondents indicated that they intended to book sustainable accommodation options at least once in the following year. This was a slight decrease from 2021 but an increase from 2020, showing a general upward trend towards a greater willingness amongst travelers to seek out sustainable accommodation options. This positive trend is not limited to environmental sustainability but also local economies and cultures.
