How US Companies' Offshore Funds Compare To National GDPs

An Oxfam report released in the wake of the Panama Papers leak revealed that the top 50 US companies have stashed $1.38 trillion in offshore territories where it does not count towards US tax. Those 50 companies are believed to have earned some $4 trillion in profits across the world between 2008 and 2014 but have only paid 26.5 percent of that in US tax. Putting that $1.38 trillion figure in perspective, it is higher than the GDPs of Mexico, the Netherlands and Turkey as well as being roughly equivalent to Spain.
