M50: The numbers behind the accidents

Arguably Ireland's best-known stretch of motorway, the M50 in County Dublin carries over 160,000 vehicles every day. According to a freedom of information request from TheJournal.ie, the M50 has seen nearly 2,000 accidents over the past four years. The following infographic was featured in TheJournal.ie's coverage of the M50's traffic accidents from 2013 to 2017. The Red Cow was the deadliest junction on the motorway, while most accidents occurred between 5 and 6pm. Thursday was the worst day for accidents while November was the worst month.
