21.05.2025 Statista expands its API business: Microsoft 365 Copilot becomes one of first global AI collaboration partners

  • For the first time, Statista works with an AI assistant: users of Microsoft 365 Copilot get access to more than one million verified Statista data points with the API connection ‘Statista Connect’.
  • In Microsoft 365 Copilot the incorporation of Statista information is possible through the Statista Copilot Connectors app.* The reliable data appears directly in all Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
  • Seamlessly integrated in the user’s content creation workflow, the integration enables AI to serve as a central tool for decision-making and strengthens user confidence in AI-generated products.

Hamburg, Germany – The rise of AI is fundamentally transforming many work processes and industries – including data research and the consumption of information. Customers expect immediate, contextual and reliable answers. As a result, AI-powered tools such as large language models (LLMs) have long been established. They are also increasingly being integrated into processes in the world of work. However, the quality of the information is variable, and the sources are often opaque. This makes their use and integration into workflows – especially in a professional environment – only possible with caution. This is where Statista comes in, providing AI assistants with seamless access to more than one million reliable Statista data points across topics and industries with the API service Statista Connect. One of the first global AI collaboration partners is Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft 365 Copilot processes company data contextually and supplements this with the ability to retrieve specific information from the web – by asking and answering questions.

“The global collaboration with Microsoft 365 Copilot is the perfect start to integrating our trustworthy data into AI-supported tools.”, said Marc Berg, CEO at Statista. ”We aim to become the leading data provider for AI ecosystems worldwide. This way we ensure that Statista’s data quality standards and breadth of coverage remain a gold standard embedded into next-generation technologies. At the same time, we support our collaboration partners with the integration of Statista data to improve the quality of their AI-powered tool and thus make work processes more productive and efficient.”, Berg continued.

Data meets productivity tools: Statista data integrated in AI-workflows

Statista data is integrated with Microsoft 365 Copilot through the API service Statista Connect. This enables more up-to-date data quality and more fact-based, verified answers – enhancing users’ trust in the responses generated. For users, this means that they can access Statista's global database seamlessly and retrieve verified, trustworthy information in real time – without leaving Microsoft 365 Copilot. By offering this whole new data journey to the users of Microsoft 365 Copilot they can integrate Statista information right into their content creation workflows. Whether they are preparing PowerPoint slides and Excel sheets or writing a Word document.

”With its seamless integration in the Microsoft 365 apps, Microsoft 365 Copilot is an important AI companion for hundreds of thousands of people using Copilot in their everyday lives. By embedding Statista data, Microsoft 365 Copilot now opens up a powerful new feature for users: fact-based, data-driven decision making directly in the Microsoft 365 apps – for even more productivity and efficiency.”, said Chantrelle Nielsen, Group Product Manager, Microsoft 365 Copilotat Microsoft.

Statista data sets new benchmarks for AI-supported tools

With AI-powered tools – such as Microsoft 365 Copilot – the quality of the answers depends heavily on the data that the systems can use. Seamless API access to Statista, one of the world’s largest verified databases of statistics, reports, global consumer panels and forecasts, enables AI services worldwide to provide more reliable, fact-based and high-quality content. This not only strengthens user confidence in AI-generated products but also enables AI to serve as a central tool for decision-making.

In the coming months, the extensive Statista data pool will be gradually introduced into the AI assistant Microsoft 365 Copilot.

* Customers with a Microsoft 365 Copilot-license can use the Statista Copilot Connectors App in the Microsoft 365 tools. To do this, the company must first purchase the license for the Statista plug-in and an administrator in the company must activate it. Subsequently, employees can access the Statista data pool in Microsoft 365 Copilot and thus in the various applications of the Microsoft 365 Suite in which Copilot is available. A Statista Professional Account is required for this.
